$92 mil to be spent on juvenile correctional institutions

My say: So much money to be spent on fixing the problem when money would be better spent being proactive rather than reactive. Teaching dispute resolution in schools and communities will help people to utilize non-violent alternatives to solving their problems. This would inevitably lead to a decline in the need for facilities like these.

Ninety two million dollars is to be spent this fiscal year to carry out the construction and renovation of juvenile correctional institutions across the country.

This was outlined in the 2011/2012 Estimates of Expenditure.

Another $39 million has been earmarked for the construction and improvement of several adult correctional facilities.

Of that sum, $15 million will go towards the repair of cells and other maintenance services at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.
